After a long hiatus I am beginning my return to writing. I’m pleased to say that I haven’t been stagnant in the interim but have poured my energies into learning and doing new things. My primary areas of accomplishment have been in advocacy for the elderly, which includes both day to day relationship building and public speaking opportunities, and in the development of several different kinds of hospitality. The latter may seem a simple thing but it is far from it, especially as opportunities that seemed like they would last forever have gone by the wayside, and I have had to re-evaluate and re-adjust and re-envision ways to help and serve the people around me. The motto of a well known spice company is, “Love People, Cook Them Tasty Food”–it’s one of my life commitments, but it’s only part of the picture.
And now in preparing for the launch of a new, writing-focused blog I’m sitting here with magazines and literary publications spread out, open to pages printed with my work and my name. Granted, it was a number of years ago but I remember the excitement, anxiety, and satisfaction of learning how the writing and publishing process worked, and in my experience working with editors. My critique group members became dear and trusted friends that I still go to for writing advice. I continue to be thankful for the friends who encouraged me along the way, knowing they are still willing to be my cheerleaders
Now it’s time to fold it all together and the writing will be new again. Like the wind socks in the photo above, the breath of a new wind makes things interesting and alive. I will post about some of my experiences, as well as some of my previously published work. And beyond that who knows what will develop.
Thanks for reading.
